Why Join WMI for this Campaign?
WMI believes in locally-led, grassroots change. We believe the best way to do this is this to invest in young changemakers.
WMI is on a mission to not only educate young leaders, but to give them the tools and support to transform their communities. Through our scholars’ community work, we have seen that the key to sustainable change is grassroots locally-driven solutions. Through their professional and volunteer work, our scholars served over 172,697 people in the last year.
By sponsoring a scholar you are not only helping educate a young person in need but impacting the future of whole communities.
Through this campaign you also have the option to either designate your gift to a scholar in a field or country of your choice or to one of the following funds:
- Women’s Education Fund: Across the globe, women’s advancement leads to positive outcomes for all, educating women is the single most impactful development investment you can make, benefiting the individuals, their families, communities and country.
- Medical Scholars Fund: There is a discrepancy in access to healthcare around the world, we are committed to changing this with medical professionals making up 45% of our students.
Sponsor a Scholar
For $2,500 you can support a scholar for one year including the cost of tuition, books, academic and leadership support for 1 year.
- Each donor will be matched with a scholar and receive two updates a year on their academic and community service work.
- You will also have the opportunity to name the scholarship in honor or memory of a loved one.

🌱Stellia Tamandani Banda, a WMI Graduate Scholar and Community Development Grant awardee, is the visionary behind Farmers Shield Agro Dealers, a grassroots agricultural initiative rooted in Katawa Village, Kalemeka, Chilowamatambe (Kasungu, Malawi).
With the support of the WMI seed grant awarded in July 2024, Stellia has mobilized her knowledge and leadership to uplift her community. The project has already created opportunities for 14 individuals, including family members and casual laborers, contributing to improved livelihoods and local food security.
As one community member shared: “Working on the farm has helped me support my family. Even though the rains were late, we stayed hopeful because this project means a lot to our village.”🛖
Stellia mentioned that the first maize harvest is expected this Spring, and a portion of the yield will be set aside for reinvestment, ensuring the farm continues to grow and serve the community for years to come.
Just like Stellia, WMI Scholars are leading innovative, community-driven change across the globe, addressing local challenges with creativity, resilience, and purpose.

Last Friday, WMI had the honor of partnering with Deloitte for their Impact Day—an annual day of service to drive transformative change at the community level.
Deloitte member firms from around the world hosted activities in which Deloitte professionals spent the day volunteering.
The WMI Impact Day project combined elements of professional development with an emphasis on wellness practices for professionals. Through virtual panel discussions, Deloitte staff engaged with WMI scholars on topics ranging from Connecting the World through IT to Healthcare Careers.
Thank you to Deloitte for believing in the power of local leadership throughout all corners of the world, and for investing time and talent in the growth of our extraordinary scholars. This opportunity not only empowered young people with expert guidance and fresh perspectives but also strengthened the global connections that fuel both our missions.

Thank you so much!
Fantastic!

In May, the WMI Kenya Fellowship team held a blood donation drive, made possible through the support of the Fellowship Development Grant and in collaboration with amazing partners: Ruai Family Hospital, AMREF University, Mama Lucy Hospital, and Blood Donation Control - Kenya.
👥 50 volunteers — including 12 passionate WMI scholars and dedicated students and health professionals — came together for one mission: to save lives.
🩸 30 units of blood were donated, potentially helping 100+ patients in urgent need of transfusions — from mothers in labor and cancer patients to surgical and trauma cases.
This is what community-led impact looks like. Real change, driven by those who care deeply and act boldly.
✨ As part of our #IgnitingChange campaign, we’re showing the world what’s possible when young leaders are empowered to serve their communities.
If you’re looking to invest in lasting impact, support youth-led solutions like these.
Because change starts with one act, one leader, one community at a time. 🔥
