Leave a Legacy with Wells Mountain Initiative

When you include Wells Mountain Initiative (WMI) in your estate or financial plans, you help ensure that education, leadership, and opportunity continue to reach future generations of scholars and the communities they serve.

Your Values. Their Future.

Why Leave a Legacy Gift?

  • Expand access to higher education for first-generation and under-resourced students worldwide
  • Support Scholar-led community development, including locally rooted businesses, nonprofits, and schools
  • Strengthen WMI’s long-term sustainability, ensuring we can respond to emerging needs and opportunities

Every legacy gift, regardless of size, helps ensure that WMI’s impact continues well into the future.

Ways to Include WMI in Your Plans

There are many meaningful and flexible ways to leave a legacy. You can choose the option that best aligns with your goals and circumstances.

Bequest in Your Will or Trust

You may designate WMI as a beneficiary of a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder after providing for loved ones.

“I give and bequeath to Wells Mountain Initiative, Inc., a nonprofit organization located in Bristol, Vermont (EIN: 20-3823604), the sum of $____ [or ____% of my estate], to be used for its general charitable purposes.”

Beneficiary Designations

Naming WMI as a beneficiary of a retirement account, life insurance policy, or financial account is often one of the simplest ways to make a lasting gift—typically requiring only a short form from your plan administrator.

Gifts of Appreciated Assets

Donating appreciated stocks, securities, or real estate may offer tax advantages while helping WMI Scholars access education and leadership opportunities.

Endowed Scholarship or Fund

You may establish a named endowed scholarship or fund to support Scholars or Community Development Grants in perpetuity—an enduring tribute to your values and vision for the future.

Join the WMI Legacy of Learning Circle

Supporters who include WMI in their estate or financial plans are invited to become members of the WMI Legacy of Learning Circle, a community of individuals who believe deeply in lifelong learning, global leadership, and intergenerational impact.

Legacy Circle members receive:

  • Periodic insider updates and Scholar stories
  • Invitations to special briefings or events (virtual or in person)
  • Recognition in WMI publications, if desired

Membership is optional and confidential. We are honored to steward your intentions with care and gratitude.

A Legacy of Learning Circle member list will be shared soon.

Let’s Start a Conversation

If you have already included WMI in your plans, or are considering doing so, we would be grateful to hear from you. Sharing your intentions helps us honor your wishes and plan responsibly for the future. There is no obligation, and your plans can always be updated as your circumstances change.
